The scores for the first round of individuals and teams are up...just go to the national poetry slam link in our links and check them out...in team ranks...URBANA( my friends from New York) are ranked 5th at the moment! summerSLAM!
summerSLAM! was tonight and I must say it went pretty well since we competed against the Cher concert, damn you Cher, and it rained like an hour before. The slam consisted of the following people; Phuc, Sibo, Courtney, Nirav, and Rachel. Winner was Courtney. There were three rounds and it was decided on by total acumulated points. after we chowed down on hot dogs and grippos and listened to some music...
Things that we learned at summerSLAM!
1. Never give lighterfluid to Elliot and Steven.
2. Never tell Phuc he can take home stuff if he wants.
3. Nirav has some kick-ass poems that I never knew he had! Go Nirav!
4. There is nothing like grilled hotdogs and Baliwood music.
5. Gummie Bears+Hot car+outside=Big sticky mess that will stick to brick walls.
6. Courtney Wright's poetry is amazing, and I shouldn't tell him this cause he already knows it...but it was the highlight of my night...woo...
7. Never let Rachel have hot dog tongs...you may loose a body part.
8. You can't sit hot dogs on fire in the street.
9. Sibo likes to hit people with his balls...yea, tennis balls...rriiiggghhhhtttt...
10. Where have all the sweaters gone?
It was a fun time guys! We all have to do it again...Well good luck at school this next year, wherever you go, and stay tuned for info on the next slam...it will be at Wadi sometime this month...see you there!-Lisa

weather update
apparently some fringes of Vanderburg county are reporting rain. I hear distant thunder at my house. But the summerSLAM! will go on! Because we are hardcore, and because we have 72 hotdogs to get rid of and 12 lbs of gummi bears....
feel free to bring whatever food you like, anyhow.
